Gr 2 Winners For Rathmor Stud And Kildonan
| |
Rathmor Stud have an exciting juvenile colt making himself seen and heard - Harry Lime went out to prove that his debut win by three lengths was no fluke and followed this up with an easy win in the Gr2 Umkhomazi Stakes at Scottsville today - this time by almost four lengths going away.
The unbeaten Var colt is a grandson of Rattlebag and a pedigree filled with speed, won over 1200m for trainer Justin Snaith and owner Fred Crabbia. Carrying 58kgs, the colt ridden by Richard Fourie beat another smart Var in Mastermind, Harry's Son (AUS) and Easy Lover (by Right Approach).
Harry Lime is the first foal produced out of Rattled by Alami - herself a winner at three years old and a daughter of Gr 3 (and six-time) winner Rattlebag - who also placed second in the SA Fillies Guineas Gr 1.
Rattled is also a half-sister to Gr 3 winner Chastity (by Tamburlaine). She has a Miesque's Approval yearling and an A.P. Answer foal for the current season. Harry Lime sold for R350 000 at the 2013 National Yearling Sale.
Rathmor continued their success today at the sale with Lot 109 named Timeous, a Var half-sister to recent debut winner Split The Breeze (the first for sure Brave Tin Soldier), selling for R300 000 to Braam Van Hysteen in today's first session of the National Yearling Sale. Out of their resident Gr3 winning mare, Time And Tide by Baroon, this is the damline of other Rathmor-bred Gr1 champions Wendywood and Malteme.
Kildonan's unbeaten daughter Rosier followed up her recent East Cape Fillies Nursery win with the Gr2 Debutante today at Scottsville.
The filly trained by Glen Kotzen has now won all three of her starts at three different tracks over distances of 1000m - 1200m. Bred and owned by Wilgebosdrift, the owners of Kildonan who stands at Yellow Star Stud, Rosier is out of Australian mare Malmaison by French Deputy. She beat a quality field with Australian Choisir filly Lady Ky, as well as Ad Idem (by Jet Master) and Arria (Antonius Pius) placing behind her respectively.
Kildonan sold his only Lot available at the National Yearling Sale for R290 000, a colt named Nevada out of a Model Man mare.
The last to fly the flag for KZN at Scottsville today was Joshua's Crown, bred by Mrs N Raw. The five year old son of Joshua Dancer took home the Sledgehammer Listed over 1800m - this being his fifth win. He is trained by Alistair Gordon, out of Severini mare What A Promise. He won by a nose from Argentine-bred Coltrane, King Jace (by King Of Kings) and One Cool Dude (by Strike Smartly).
Well done to all concerned.
