Congratulations to the breeders who have had horses nominated in the Outstanding Middle-Distance Female and Male categories. The fillies are Dancewiththedevil, Fisani, Las Ramblas with the males following below ...
Dancewiththedevil
A 4 year old filly by Modus Vivendi out of Emperor's Dance by Caesour, bred by Graystone Stud.
2011 Equus Award winner of the Champion Older Filly/Mare (Four-year-old and older) Award. She is a 7-time winner of R2,053,425 and includes the Gold Challenge Grade 1, Empress Club Stakes Grade 1, Horse Chestnut Stakes Grade 1, Acacia Handicap Grade 3 as well as placing 4 times including a second in the Johannesburg Spring F & M Challenge Grade 3. Her younger sibling Dance Alley (by Jam Alley(AUS)) has already placed from 2 starts, and is a half-sister to two other winners. Her dam is a half-sister to 5-time winning War Lord and includes the family of sire Modern Beat, Natal Fillies Grade 1 winner Smart As Paint to name but a few.
She has also been nominated for the Outstanding Older Female Award.
Fisani
A 4 year old filly by Kahal out of Gypsey Spirit by Coastal, bred by Summerhill Stud.
Fisani was a R400 000 purchase at the 2008 Emperors Palace Ready-To-Run Sale. She is a 5 time-winner of R1,127,125 including Gerald Rosenberg Stakes Grade 2, Gauteng Fillies Guineas Grade 2, Jacaranda Handicap Grade 3 and she has placed 9 times including third Gold Bracelet Grade 2, Acacia Handicap Grade 3. Fisani is a half-sister to Catmandu by Makaarem(USA) who achieved 5 wins and is the winner of R1,036,110 as well as placing 14 times in a few Graded races. Her older half-brother is 10-time winner Ecole Militaire by Deep Sleep, as well as a half-sister to 3 other winners not mentioned. Family of overseas champions and sires Most Welcome(GB) and Teenoso(USA) as well top-rated fillies of their time, Favoridge(USA) and Give Thanks(GB). Fisani has also been nominated for Outstanding Stayer Female and the Outstanding Older Female categories.
Las Ramblas
A 3 year old filly by Toreador out of Silent Kiss(NZ) by Maroof, bred by GEJ van der Merwe.
She is a 2-time winner of R418,330 and has placed 10 times including a second S A Fillies Classic Grade 1 and the Gold Circle Oaks Grade 2. She has also been nominated in the categories for Outstanding Middle-Distance Female, Outstanding Stayer Female and Outstanding 3 year old filly. She is a half-sister to two other winners including Winter Derby Grade 3 placed Frusk.

Grisham was a R200 000 yearling purchase from the 2007 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. Half-brother to 2005 Vodacom Durban July winner Dunford and 2 other winners. Grisham has had 3 wins of which 2 were in Zimbabwe. He has earned R263,545 and Z$54,000 and include the Castle Tankard (Listed), OK Grand Challenge (Listed) as well as placing 14 times including a third
in the Drum Star Handicap (Listed). Grisham has been nominated in the Outstanding Older Male category. Family of Dare To Command, Sweet Wonder and French sire Nogara, to name but a few here!
Pierre Jourdan
A 4 year old by Parade Leader out of Vin Fizz by Qui Danzig, bred by Summerhill Stud.
Pierre Jourdan was a R60 000 yearling purchase from the 2008 Emperors Palace Read-To-Run Sale. He is currently a 9 winner of R4,475,675 including the S A Classic Grade 1, Gauteng Guineas Grade 2, Emperors Palace Charity Mile Grade 2, Tony Ruffel Stakes Grade 3, Johannesburg Spring Challenge Grade 3 as well as placing 6 times including second in the S A Derby Grade 1, running a brave second to Igugu(AUS) in the Vodacom Durban July Grade 1 this year, Jubilee Handicap Grade 3 and a third November Charity Mile Handicap Grade 2. He is a half-brother to 3 other winners. His third dam Consolation(GB) placed in Graded company. Pierre Jourdan has also been nominated for the Outstanding Older Male category.
The Apache
A 3 year old by Mogok out of Apache Rose by Dolpour, bred by Scott Brothers.
2011 Equus Award winner of the Champion Three Year Old Colt/Gelding Award as well as 2011 KZN Racing Award winner for 3 Year Old Colt/Gelding. The Apache was purchased for R80 000 in the 2009 National Two-Year Old Sale. He is currently a 5-time winner of R1,671,250 including the Champions Cup Grade 1, Daily News 2000 Grade 1, Investec Dingaans Grade 2 and he has placed 5 times including a third in the Victory Moon Stakes Grade 2.
He has two younger unraced siblings, Minnie Ha Ha by Cataloochee and Lord Rose by Overlord. His dam is a full sister to 7-time winner Sugar Magnolia, and this the is the family of Steiger, Tropical Gem, Gold Gem. His second dam is Bold West - winner of the Gilbey's Stakes Grade 2.
He has also been nominated for Outstanding Stayer Male as well as Outstanding Three Year Old Colt.
