Winning Start For Admire Main(JPN)
| |
Admire Main(JPN) appears to be off to a strong start with his first horses to race in Japan, it is exciting times ahead indeed for KZN and Summerhill Stud.
From just 11 horses to race in Japan of Admire Main's first and only overseas crop to race, three are already winners and several have placed.
Kohaku Fairy, out of Subaru Madonna by Shady Heights(GB), ran second first time out in September this year, and won her second race both at Nagoya, as did Nozomi Okan, out of G Cup Mary, by Bachir(IRE), winning and placing twice from just five starts over 1400m.
*Ripe Main, out of Windy Gift by Singspiel(USA), is also a winner at Monbetsu course and has placed second in September at the same course over 1700m. Grey filly Emeral Beauty out of Thirty Eight Go Go, by Thirty Eight Paces(USA), placed third yesterday at Urawa course over 1400m and Pink Marshmallow, out of Nitto Shrilly by Ebros(USA), recently placed fourth at Montbetsu racecourse in Japan.
Standing at Summerhill Stud (this season the National eighth consecutive Breeding Champions), Admire Main is a balanced, athletic chestnut stallion with a lovely big walking stride. Admire Main is the first son of Sunday Silence(USA) to stand on the African continent. Sunday Silence is the sire of Deep Impact(JPN) - who is currently the leading sire of worldwide Group/Grade 1 races, ahead of Dubawi by almost 2 million Pounds in Stakes earned.
A stallion that has been well supported by the breeders saw his first filly, a well-grown balanced chestnut yearling out of Merriment by Habaayib named Too Much Fun, bred and sold by Backworth Stud at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale in April this year for R140 000 to Gavin Van Zyl. Clifton Stud sold another filly named Barefoot Lady at the 2012 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale for R120 000 to T&L Racing Stables. She is out of Democracy by National Assembly.
Admire Main will be represented by nine Two Year Old's at the upcoming Emperors Palace Ready-To-Run Sale. The pre-sale gallops take place this Friday at Summerhill Stud, beginning at 11am.
Of the nine youngsters available, Lot 18 is named Yamas, out of Greet The Greek(SNL) by Lichine(USA), a six time winner who has produced seven winners, amassing 17 wins between all of them. This two year old chestnut filly has the likes of American sires Gorytus, What's Dat and Colonial Affair, as well as Halley's Comet(JPN) and Gr 3 winner Jamaican Dream in her dam-line.
Another stand-out is a filly named Admiral's Eye, Lot 120 out of Surfers Eye by Elliodor(FR), and half-sister to the very good full-sisters Saltwater Girl and Rapid Flow who have 13 races between themselves and both are Stakes/Group Placed. Other half-siblings include Shogunnar (by Solskjaer) who placed third in the Daily News 2000 Gr 1 and Kiriya (by Malhub) who is a winner and placed four times. This is a strong dam-line that includes sires' Vaguely Noble, Lead On Time, Great Commotion and German sire Lombard as well as Arabian Lass and Prairie Breeze.
Admire Main raced in Japan over 1600 - 2400m, with four wins and four places. He earned over US$2 million in stakes, winning the Gr 3 Mainchi Hai Stakes, the Gr 2 Aoba Sho Derby Trial, and running second in the Gr 1 Tokyo Yushan (Japan Derby). He ran third in the Gr 1 Kikuku Sho and won the Tokyo TV Hai Listed. His four wins combined saw him win by a combined, and incredible 22 lengths.
Admire Main is out of the mare Promotion, a Gr 3 winner by Hector Protector(USA). His third dam is Yes Please, sired by Mount Hagen(FR) - a sire that found his way and stood successfully for a time at Summerhill Stud many years ago. Admire Main stands for R15 000+vat this season, live foal.
