The big imposing bay son of Miesque's Son has had six winners in the last two weeks around the country, with four winners in the last five days each winner carries an impressive racing record.

Eton Square, bred by Scott Bros out of the mare Monroe by Model Man, finished second in his debut run and his second run resulted in a win at the Vaal yesterday (Thursday) by almost two lengths at even weights of 60kgs. The gelding is trained by Gavin Van Zyl. Eton Square is a R280 000 graduate of the 2010 National Two Year Old Sale. He descends from the dam-line of London News with his third dam being Underground Lady.

The second winner at the Vaal yesterday was in Race 5, a filly bred by Maine Chance Farms named Cosmogenic. She was consigned by Maine Chance at the 2010 National Yearling Sale and sold for R170 000. She placed second in her first two starts and won the next two, the first by almost four lengths. An impressive record from just four starts.

At Scottsville on 1 May, Sugar Rush added to Backworth Stud's tally of winners this past season. Out of the mare Sweet Sweet by Kenmare, she also was a graduate of the 2010 Emperor's Palace National Yearling Sale and sold for R300 000. She has had three runs to date and ran just four lengths off the winner to place in her debut run. In her second start, she ran second by just over a length in a 1200m race and went on to win at Scottsville over 1600m by two and half lengths this week under Brandon Lerena. Sugar Rush is a half-sister to three-time winner Meet At Malamala. The filly is owned by Backworth Stud and Messrs G D Cunningham and C J Tyson and trained by Tony Rivalland. Backworth Stud have had other successes with progeny of Miesque's Approval including Devonesque, Truly Exclusive and Listed winner Top Of The Chocs - a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Chocolicious.

Placido, bred by Yellow Star Stud out of Badger Land mare Lady Gray, stormed to victory by 3.25 lengths at Fairview on 30 April. Another gelding who has placed or won from all four of his starts since beginning his career earlier this year, he has never been more then 3 lengths off the winner over distances of 1000 to 1100m - running fourth, second and third - and then winning his fourth start out at Fairview over 1200m. He was an R85 000 yearling purchase off last year's KZN Yearling Sale, he descends from the dam-line of Stakes winners Firetread, Electro Step and Empress Crown.

Lord Paramount, another product from the Scott Bros, has had 10 starts of which he was won five and placed twice. His last two starts have been consecutive wins over 1400m at Kenilworth. Trained by Dean Kannemeyer, he won his last start by 1.25 lengths and is owned by Field Spring Racing. He was a R190 000 2010 National Yearling Sales graduate and is out of Stakes' placed Argentinian mare Lady Caroloty by Southern Halo.

Quintella was bred by Avalon Stud and won at Greyville on 24 April over 1200m by 1.75 lengths. She has placed three times and now a winner - not bad for a filly that cost just R15 000 at the 2011 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale and has earned almost R60 000 in stakes. She is out of the four-time winning mare Jenikym by Shalford and trained by Patrick Lunn.

Miesque's Approval's top seller at the recent 2012 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale was a filly named Call of The Hunt (Lot 239) - a half-sister to Vodacom Durban July winner Hunting Tower out of the mare Stirrup Cup. She was bred and consigned by Scott Bros and sold to P. De Beyer for R250 000.

A very tough and sound individual, Miesque's Approval was an Eclipse Award winner in the USA with 12 wins and earning a very respectable $2,612,529 in stakes. He won over distances of 1600-1800m including the Breeders Cup Mile Gr.1, Makers Mark Mile Stakes, Gr.2, Firecracker Handicap, Gr.2, Red Bank Stakes, Gr.3, Kent Stakes, Gr.3, and the Pilgrim Stakes and achieved a Time Form Rating of 126.

He was also voted Champion Turf Horse in USA in 2006 as well as being the highest ranked horse in the world from the Mr Prospector line of that year. He is a half-brother multiple Stakes and 20-time winning Revved Up.

His sire Miesque's Son was a multiple Gr 1 placed Gr 3 winner in France (Timeform 117) and a full brother to successful sire Kingmambo. Their dam is Miesque - a dual Breeder's Cup Mile winner. Miesque's Son is the sire of Gr1 winners and a Sire of Sires.

His dam Win Approval has produced five horses, who between them all have achieved an incredible 50 wins. She is by With Approval out of a Hoist The Flag mare, Negotiator.

Miesque's Approval stood for a service fee of R35 000 last year. He is the sire in South Africa of 24 first crop winners including Top Of The Chocs (LP) and Don't Tell Mama (Gr 3 SP).
