Whispers around the sales yard speak highly of the impressive type of yearling Dubawi Gr1 winner, Willow Magic, is producing and it was evident in the prices in the sales ring when his first yearlings entered the sales ring.

Sporting powerful hindquarters and toplines with level headed sensible temperaments, the Willow Magic’s have attracted the attention of the BSA inspectors and leading bloodstock agents.

Summerhill sold Lot 341, beautifully named Look Of Eagles, for the top price of R325 000 to Form Bloodstock. Out of a Fusaichi Pegasus mare Dubai Jewel, a half-sister to Hong Kong Gr2 winner Let Us Win, this is the family of Roy Had Enough.

Willow Magic sold his first 4 yearlings for an average of close to R250 000 each, making him the leading KZN sire of the sale so far.

Champion trainer Sean Tarry, who trained Willow Magic, snapped up three of the yearlings – one out of Fisani and the other out of the star family of Victory Tale, as well as a half-sibling to Black Type 7-time winner Lala.

There are a slew of well bred Willow Magics still to come – including a half-brother to Malak El Moolook (and every foal the mare has produced is a multiple winner) and another out of Millennium Reign from the same female line. Both are consigned by Bush Hill Stud and are smashing individuals.

The overall average price for the sale so far is R381 854,84.

Well done to Summerhill Stud, who have recently boasted the likes of leading sires Visionaire prior to his relocation and the late Await The Dawn. Capetown Noir is stepping up to the plate with Black Type from a handful of runners, and it looks as if Willow Magic is going to make a big impression on the racetracks too!
