Jackodore Grabs Nkosazana Listed By Four Lengths

Toreador’s talented five year old daughter Jackodore snatched the Nkosazana Listed by an impressive four lengths from Summerhill-bred Negev, with Silent Force and Dalalaat placing respectively.

The Sean Tarry-trained Jackodore made this her ninth win to date – with 12 places behind her. Owned by Chris Van Niekerk, this is Jackodore’s fourth Bold Black Type win to date – her previous Graded wins include the Gr 3 Magnolia Stakes from Chocolicious, and the Swallow Stakes Listed from Variometer and taking home the Gr 2 Merchants from Two Tone.

Toreador(IRE) is a handsome dark bay son of dual hemisphere champion sire Danehill out of Purplepaperchase by Young Generation.

Standing at 16 hands, Toreador spent his racing career in Ireland, England and South Africa before retiring to stud.

A four-time winner including the Turffontein Handicap, he also placed 17 times including the Gr 2 Sentinel Sprint, Drill Hall and Hawaii Stakes – as well as a second in the Gr 1 Gold Challenge and Queens Plate.

Commencing stud duties in 2005, he is a sire who holds the accolade of having Stakes Winners in every crop to date – these include Bold Black Types Link Man (Gold Medallion Stakes Gr 1 winner) , Straight Forward, Deliver The Power, Jackodore, She’s A Stunner and Las Ramblas.

He is represented by 10 yearlings at the upcoming Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, including Lot 3 named Marciano on offer from Roski Stud – a half-brother to Gr2 placed Journeyman who was exported to Dubai this season. Lot 137 is a filly who will attract much attention, being a full-sister to Equus Champion 2YO colt in 2010 – Gr 1 winning Link Man.

Toreador’s combined Sales average for 2012 and 2013 is almost 12 times his service fee. Toreador stood at Bush Hill Stud for R15 000 the past season.
