ITS A DOUBLE FOR KZN BREDS AND THE APACHE

Congratulations to Scott Bros on their double today in Race 8 as Apache Son, the 4YO The Apache – Sincronizada gelding was ridden to victory by the “red-hot” Kabelo Matsunyane for trainer Tyrone Zackey who along with the owners, the Backos family have been staunch and longtime supporters of The Apache.

It was a double for The Apache, Tyrone Zackey and the Backos family as Flashy Apache, the 6YO The Apache – Flashy gelding was second under Nirvan Nastili in the same race.

The Apache, KZN and Scott Bros bred son of Mogok was an international multiple Grade and Group One equine superstar. Purcahsed for R80k, The Apache went on to make over R17 million in earnings in his racing career – talk about a fantastic return on an investment!

In South Africa, he won the Gr1 Champions Cup, the Gr1 Daily News and the Gr2 Dingaans, before heading overseas to race, He was 4th in the Gr2 York Stakes, and was disqualified into second place in the Arlington Mile, having been judged to have bumped Real Solution who was declared the winner.

It was in Dubai though, that The Apache enjoyed his greatest success, when he won the Gr2 Al Raashidiya and the Gr1 Jebel Hatta, and was runner-up in the Dubai Duty Free. The Apache was named Champion Equus Colt in 2011.

The Apache is a proudly #KZN stallion and stands for owner Winston Chow.
