Summerhill are sending an outstanding draft to the CTS Premier Yearling Sale, including two siblings to Gr1 winners (Love Struck and Rabada) and a Gr3 winner, as well as a Silvano filly out of a half-sister to Bankable. The first crop of Capetown Noir are represented.
Summerhill have produced more winners this season (nine ahead of the second placed farm according to current nhra stats -3 December) than any other stud in the top 10 breeders log. There is a thought that you can predict what is to come in the future based on the past – if Summerhill’s ten year leading breeder accolades are anything to go by, their draft is to be respected.
No Worries arrived home at the place of his birth yesterday to take up his place as a “babysitter” at Summerhill alongside fellow millionaires, Hear The Drums and Amphitheatre. He’s in the shape of his life, complete with the offset knees that left him out of the conventional sales a horse of his class would otherwise have been consigned to. Long live the new king!
“Anyone at the “Big T” on Saturday would’ve had no illusions about the truth of the adage: Big Bear made sure of that with a pulsating performance in the Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup, putting to bed two of the nation’s highest rated three year old colts and a Group One winning filly, to deliver its eighth victory in eleven renewals of one of the country’s richest prizes to the KZN nursery, Summerhill.”
The Melbourne Cup, to be run at Flemington racecourse tomorrow morning (Tuesday), has to date eluded record-breaking trainer Aidan O’Brien. However, KZN Breeders will be hoping his son Joseph wins it this year with Rekindling, who is a full-brother to the Summerhill-based stallion Golden Sword.
Summerhill-bred Big Bear galloped to a scintillating win in Saturday’s R2,5 million CTS Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup at Turffontein, in a 1-2-3 past the winners post for KZN-breds.
The sale, conducted by Jan Naude and Caroline Simpson’s Livestock Auctions, achieved an aggregate of R4 145 000, with an average of R69 083 and a top price of R380 000 paid by Bobby Rajhuhanan for a beautiful Visionaire colt. – Turf Talk
Another impressive day for KZN-breds at Turffontein yesterday, as five of the 10 races carded went to horses born and raised in Kwa-Zulu Natal, including two for De Kock Crusade filly Onamission and Await The Dawn’s talented daughter, Tammany Hall.
