This sale from South Africa’s leading breeder has produced amongst its many winners, No Worries.

Summerhill held their annual Summer Ready To Run Sale on Tuesday in the traditional first class hospitality that is Summerhill Stud, provided by Hartford House. The sale was held in conjunction with Michael Holmes Bloodstock.

Graeme Hawkins once again did the honours as auctioneer on behalf of Michael Holmes Bloodstock, with buyers from across the country descending on the leading stud farm in South Africa to find another of the likes of No Worries, Tomorrow’s Miss and Flyfirstclass, graduates of this sale in the past recent years.

Eight horses sold for over R100 000 from the 62 Lots solds, with 2015 Leading National Freshman sire Visionaire proving the most popular with seven of his progeny selling for more than six figures each.

The top sellers of the day were both purchased by Nchakha Moloi – a Visionaire (Lot 22) and Golden Sword (Lot 69) filly for R220 000 and R180 000 respectively.

Lot 22 is an eyecatching Visionaire filly, very typical of her sires’s stamp. She is out of Glitz by Coastal, a half-sister to Nondweni – a Muhtafal filly who won three times and placed second in the Gr3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery and the Lady’s Slipper Stakes. The dam has produced six runners and five winners, descending from the female line of Imperial Despatch and Footstepsinthesand.

Lot 69, a lovely filly by Golden Sword out of Amabokoboko by Sunny North is a half-sister to the famed Bhekinkosi, a 10-time winner by Kahal over 1200m – 2200m who also placed 19 times – including the Gr3 Jubilee Handicap, twice. This is brilliant damline that includes the likes of sire’s Noverre, Fabuleux Dancer and Formidable. The dam Amabokoboko has produced eight runners and seven winners to date.

The top priced colt of the sale was purchased by Michel Nairac, Lot 43 named Midnight Man. A son of Visionaire out of Now Is The Hour by National Assembly, the mare has produced a previous winner by A.P. Arrow, Airtime. Midnight Man sold for R160 000 and shares a damline with Appelate Court.
