Backworth-bred Talk Of The Town has changed ownership and didnt disappoint, winning his third on the trot for Avontuur Estate (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Mr M J B Taberer), Mr K P Truter & Mrs Jane Truter on Friday at Kenilworth.

The KZN-bred with a stallions pedigree is a son of Var, out of the magnificent chestnut mare Street Wise (NZ), a daughter of Street Cry.

Talk Of The Town sold for R3-million at under Avontuur’s banner at the CTS Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale and is trained by Joey Ramsden.

The backworth.co.za website says: “There is nothing like pressure and expectation to fuel interest and it’s very early days to suggest he is a possible successor to his champion Dad – but there is a certain royalty about this handsome fellow’s demeanor and he now has to go on and stamp his authority on the track.”

His great grand-dam is the outstanding Nijinsky II mare Dancing Show – a half-sister to former South African Champion sire and broodmare sire, Northern Guest.

Dancing Show is granddam of the great Redoute’s Choice – sire of Rafeef, Wylie Hall, Time Thief and Redoute’s Promise, amongst others.

Redoute’s Choice’s half brother Manhattan Rain is the sire of our 2017 Met champion Whisky Baron, currently campaigning in Dubai for Brett Crawford.

Dancing Show is also the third dam of Saturday’s Gr1 Myer Classic winner Shoals at Flemington.

The 2016 Oratorio half-brother to Talk To The Town, Hill Street Blues, sold for R200 000 at the Backworth Stud Dispersal Sale at the beginning of 2017.
