Clifton Stud did KZN proud when their magnificent daughter of first season sire, Soft Falling Rain, was knocked down to Form Bloodstock for R700 000. Rathmor Stud also had a great day, their best with Lot 68 In Auro who sold to Eight Mile Lodge for R500 000, whilst Roski’s eyecatching grey son of Captain Of All sold for R325 000.
Rathmor had two very exciting results at Greyville over the weekend, with wins from Rathmor-bred Victory Trip and a Gr3 win by the brilliant Gr1 winning filly, Lady In Black. Rathmor stand the dam of Lady In Black, Mystery Dame.Rathmor Stud have half-siblings to both on offer at the upcoming National Yearling Sale.
Rathmor Studβs promising young stallion Noble Tune was represented by a second winner from his first crop when the Gavin Van Zyl trained Play Another Tune won a juvenile plate over 1400m at Greyville on Good Friday.
Very pleasantly surprised, Mike went on to say “It is a little unexpected as Awesomely Tuned is out of a stout mare, which shows that Noble Tune is adding plenty of speed.”
In a further effort to further boost the blue-blooded broodmare band for young stallion Noble Tune, Rathmor Stud for the second time headed the buyers list at the CTS Breeding Stock Sale by purchasing Lot 269 Queen Of Spain (IRE) for the sales topping R2,6-million, with a Frankel foal at foot and in foal to first season sire, William Longsword.
Almosthaditall, who made South African breeding news headlines when she sold for a sales topping R2,4-million to Rathmor Stud, is at home in Nottingham Road in foal to Noble Tune, with an outstanding Dynasty colt at foot.
In a thrilling finish Declarationofpeace, a War Front half-brother to Rathmor sire Noble Tune, under a rousing ride by jockey Ryan Moore forged to the front in the final strides to shade Sound And Silence and win the $200,000 Qatar Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes, the final stage-setter before nine consecutive Breedersβ Cup championship contests at Del Mar.
