In five days, Clifton Stud have produced six winners including a feature at Turffontein, and borders on seven with Fairview winner Douglas Devastator born and raised at Clifton Stud for the Late Syd Rosseau.

We reported on the recent Clifton double at Turffontein, Egoli Mile winner Laguna Verde and Destiny Of Souls, and their scintillating results followed up with Thomas Mason-trained Battle Of Seattle (Mambo In Seattle – Countess Kinsky) getting his third career win in Zimbabwe for owner Mr Danckwerts.

Summer Fling (Mambo In Seattle – Olympic Affair) from the family of Clifton’s Durban July winner Classic Flag, opened their account at Turffontein, winning for trainer Paul Matchett and owned in partnership with Paul and Mr Kruger. It was her first win, and Summer Fling has placed from just three starts.

Miss Geriatrix, a chestnut filly from one of Clifton’s special families which includes Prince Of Kahal and out of a full sister to Fort Vogue, is unbeaten now from two starts and added Black Type to her pedigree, winning the Listed Ruffian Stakes for Natalie Turner’s Magical Lady Syndicate and trainer Sean Tarry Racing, ridden by Richard Fourie. Miss Geriatrix sold for R200 000 at the National Yearling Sale.

Clifton are proud to present an Act Of War half sister to Miss Geriatrix (Vercingetorix – Velvet Glove) at the upcoming National Yearling Sale in April, whilst another close relative from the same family – Fashion Talk, has a Pomodoro colt on offer from Clifton’s Nationals draft.

Peter Blyth reports that Prince Of Kahal, a five time winner and multiple Group winner from the family of Fort Vogue, Velvet Glove, Fashion Talk, Vogue, Whatalady and Warm White Night, is currently enjoying his retirement at their farm in Rosetta.

Clifton’s run concluded with Acacia’s Blossom winning for Rathmor Stud’s Mario Ferreira on Monday at Hollywoodbets Greyville. By Flower Alley, a producer of good fillies, she is out of a Hussonet mare. It is the fourth win for the beautiful chestnut filly out of Endearment.

Clifton’s progeny have earned over R2-million in stakes for the season and 34% winners to runners.

Apprentice Denis Schwarz has formed a solid partnership with the 5yo gelding, who recently dead-heated with #kznbred Angel’s Power to win the Gr3 Spring Spree Stakes. It was Schwarz’ third straight win on Prince Of Kahal and four from four.

Allowed to start at a generous 15-1, Prince Of Kahal came on late to nab the free-striding Zouaves (5-1) and win the 1450m feature on the inside track by a head in a time of 88,88 secs.

Trainer Roy Magner was over the moon and told Tabnews that the winner is known as Tiger in his yard.

“We love him but he’s very arrogant. He doesn’t like being told what to do. But then again, he is always doing his best anyway. It’s his way or no way!”

A son of Kahal (Machiavellian) out of the five-time winning Model Man mare Vogue, Prince Of Kahal was bred by Clifton Stud and was bought for R120 000 at the KZN Yearling Sale. Prince Of Kahal was orphaned at 2 weeks old after his dam died from colic. He is a half-brother to Gr2 winner Fort Vogue, who died prematurely after arriving in Dubai, and to the Gr3 winner Whatalady.

Clifton Stud bought back his brave little half-sister by AP Answer, Fashion Talk, who was trained by James Goodman. She won 3 times and placed 10 times, winning over 1800m – 2000m.

He has earned  R1 073 788 with his 8 wins and 9 places from 27 starts.
