Summer Angel added yet more Black Type to her pedigree when her smart colt by Jay Peg, Exit Here, came home to get his fourth win in a row in the KZN Guineas Trial (Listed), winning over the 1600m by over two lengths for owners Alesh Naidoo and Marcus Jooste.

Summer Angel was purchased to bolster the broodmare band for Noble Tune, and she has produced a lovely colt (pictured as a newborn) at the end of October. She returns to Noble Tune to be covered again for the 2016 season and descends from the impeccable Argentian “E” family.

Exit Here has yet to be out of the money from six starts – with two seconds and four wins in place, including a second in the Gatecrasher Listed to Gr1 winner Rabada. Trained by Charles Laird and ridden by Anton Marcus, the smart colt jumped from a third draw and beat Gr2 Ukhomazi winner King’s Knight by more than four lengths.

Winning conditioner Charles Laird was particularly chuffed with his charge’s effort.
Going off at odds of 8/10, Charles commented: “I’m surprised that he was written off. He had the best form and he’s a fighter. He hasn’t reached (his potential) it yet. He’s not a horse that shows much at home but as I say you don’t win at home, you win at Greyville.”

Anton Marcus echoed Laird’s sentiments: “The penny still hasn’t quite dropped. He shows absolutely nothing at home and if you had seen his work on Tuesday you would not have backed him in a maiden.”

Exit Here is a R1,2 million Cape Premier Yearling Sale Book 2 graduate and he has earned R292 600 to date – and looks well set for his date with the CTS million dollar race in January.

His Gr3 Umzimkhulu Stakes winning half-sister by Right Approach, Eventual Angel, has been purchased by Rathmor Stud as a future broodmare prospect and she has joined the Dennis Drier stable where she is set to campaign in the fillies Gr1’s in the Cape racing season.

Eventual Angel has yet to be out of the money from seven starts and has won four times.
