KZN was well represented at the recent CTS Ready To Run Sale, with the top priced colt by Visionaire coming from Summerhill Stud and the top priced KZN-bred Var filly originally bred by Backworth Stud.

The following KZN-breds will be up for auction on 24 – 25 November at the CTS Ready To Run Sale, taking place at Randjesfontein. First season KZN sires with progeny on sale include Crusade and Await The Dawn, whilst Linngari has progeny on offer and the last two year olds by Kahal – consistently a national top 5 sire – will be up for auction. KZN-breds can be identified with stable door posters and hip stickers on during the sale.
A beautifully-bred Crusade colt sold for R700 000 at the recent CTS Ready To Run Sale in Durbanville, consigned by Beaumont Stud and purchased by Mayfair Speculators.
The recent CTS Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale yielded exciting results, and even more so for the likes of deceased first season sire Await The Dawn, proven sire Toreador and last season’s Champion Freshman sire, Visionaire.
The following KZN farms will be represented at the CTS Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale, taking place 15 April 2016 at 2pm in Johannesburg at Emperors Palace. Burwell Stud, Bush Hill Stud, Piemonte Stud and Summerhill Stud will have yearlings on sale.
Initially beginning his stud career at Rob and Michele Pickering’s Middlefield Stud in Mooi River, Byword transferred to Mauritzfontein and sees his first crop of yearlings go on sale in 2016 – the first being presented for sale in January at the CTS Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
High class KZN-bred Pierre Jourdan’s brother, Champagne Haze proved best in the R2.5 million Cape Thoroughbred Sales Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup over 1400m at
