<p>Clifton Stud&#8217;s daughter of Gr3 winner Glenrossal, aptly by Flower Alley, was a fast finishing second for major Clifton supporter and owner Peter White, in the Gr1 Wilgerbosdrift Gr1 SA Fillies Classic. </p>

<p>The race was won by Mauritzfontein&#8217;s Summer Pudding, who has now nabbed two legs of the Triple Tiara and will need to see out the 2450m on 4 April in the Gr2 SA Oaks. </p>

<p>Mary Slack of Wilgerbosdrift acknowledged in the presentation that she was very pleased that Flower Alley had produced the second place in the race. Mary has had associated success with Clifton &#8211; as her smart Gr2 winner Montreal Mist, by Soft Falling Rain, was crowned KZN Breeders Champion 2YO last season. </p>

<p>The Alec Laird trained filly Marygold won on debut and has placed 3 more times from 6 starts &#8211; 2 of them Graded Stakes races. She has earned R299,375 in stakes in the process. </p>

<p>Clifton Stud have a smart draft of yearlings headed to the 2020 National Yearling Sale in April &#8211; including an Act Of War half-brother to Spiritofthegroove, and a Kildonan half-brother to Gr2 winner, Montreal Mist and a full brother to 4-time winner Highland Hero. They also have yearlings on offer by young sires William Longsword, Act Of War, Willow Magic, Flying The Flag and Red Ray. </p>

<p>Allowed to start at a generous 15-1, Prince Of Kahal came on late to nab the free-striding Zouaves (5-1) and win the 1450m feature on the inside track by a head in a time of 88,88 secs.<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="lazy wp-image-171290 size-full lazy-loaded" src="https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal.jpeg?x63556" sizes="(max-width: 1086px) 100vw, 1086px" srcset="https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal.jpeg 1086w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-150x113.jpeg 150w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-300x226.jpeg 300w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-768x579.jpeg 768w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-1024x772.jpeg 1024w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-30x23.jpeg 30w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-360x270.jpeg 360w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-600x452.jpeg 600w" alt="" width="1086" height="819" data-attachment-id="171290" data-permalink="https://www.sportingpost.co.za/2019/10/gr2-joburn-spring-challenge-2019-review/prince-of-kahal-2/" data-orig-file="https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal.jpeg" data-orig-size="1086,819" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="Prince of kahal" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-300x226.jpeg" data-large-file="https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-1024x772.jpeg" data-lazy-type="image" data-lazy-src="https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal.jpeg?x63556" data-lazy-srcset="https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal.jpeg 1086w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-150x113.jpeg 150w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-300x226.jpeg 300w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-768x579.jpeg 768w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-1024x772.jpeg 1024w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-30x23.jpeg 30w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-360x270.jpeg 360w, https://www.sportingpost.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Prince-of-kahal-600x452.jpeg 600w" data-lazy-sizes="(max-width: 1086px) 100vw, 1086px" /></p>
<p>Trainer Roy Magner was over the moon and told Tabnews that the winner is known as Tiger in his yard.</p>
<p>“We love him but he’s very arrogant. He doesn’t like being told what to do. But then again, he is always doing his best anyway. It’s his way or no way!”</p>
<p>A son of Kahal (Machiavellian) out of the five-time winning Model Man mare Vogue, Prince Of Kahal was bred by Clifton Stud and was bought for R120 000 at the KZN Yearling Sale. Prince Of Kahal was orphaned at 2 weeks old after his dam died from colic. He is a half-brother to Gr2 winner Fort Vogue, who died prematurely after arriving in Dubai, and to the Gr3 winner Whatalady.</p>
<p>Clifton Stud bought back his brave little half-sister by AP Answer, Fashion Talk, who was trained by James Goodman. She won 3 times and placed 10 times, winning over 1800m &#8211; 2000m.</p>
<p>He has earned  R1 073 788 with his 8 wins and 9 places from 27 starts.</p>

<p><strong><em>*We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Chris Gerber of Moutonshoek, who brought in and owned Mambo In Seattle. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time, he is a devastating loss to the racing and breeding industry in South Africa. May he Rest In Peace. </em></strong></p>
<p>&#8220;This horse would look so good on my farm!&#8221; Was the line from Peter Blyth whilst visiting Moutonshoek in May  during a stint visiting the Cape farms, and to Peter&#8217;s surprise Bennie Van Der Merwe answered, &#8220;Let&#8217;s talk!&#8221; This opened the door for <a href="https://kznbreeders.co.za/stallion/mambo-in-seattle/" target="_blank">Mambo In Seattle</a> to relocate to KZN before the beginning of the breeding season.</p>
<p>Mambo In Seattle is currently 8th on the National Sires Log and leading the KZN-based sires on the log. He has also produced 90 places for the season so far.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_8760" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-8760" style="width: 216px" class="wp-caption alignleft"><a href="https://kznbreeders.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/CAN_0374.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-medium wp-image-8760" src="https://kznbreeders.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/CAN_0374-216x300.jpg" alt="Mambo In Seattle. <p>The sire of twice Gr1 winner and European Gr3 placed Same Jursidiction, Gr1 2nd placed Dubai-destined Majestic Mambo, multiple Group placed Saratoga Dancer, Mambo Mime and Mr O&#8217; Neill amongst others, Mambo In Seattle shares a damline with Al Mufti through Weekend Surprise. He has had the most success to breeding to daughters of Al Mufti and duplicating this powerful female line.</p>
<p>With 28 winners under Mambo In Seattle&#8217;s belt so far this season and 71 wins and over R7-million in stakes earned for the 2016 /2017 season, Mambo In Seattle relocated to Clifton Stud for the 2018 breeding season.</p>
<p>He has settled beautifully &#8211; a big stallion with plenty of presence and quality with a bronze glazed coat &#8211; he stands 16.3hands and over ground, with a fantastic temperament. Witnessing him covering a maiden mare, he went about his business in the most gentlemanly manner.</p>
<p>The son of Kingmambo descends from a phenomenal family that has had an influence world wide &#8211; it includes our own local sires present and past, Duke Of Marmalade, Al Mufti and his half-brother Wolfhound, super sire AP Indy, Summer Squall, Gr1 Epsom Derby winner Ruler Of The World and the mighty multiple Gr1 winner, Lemon Drop Kid.</p>
<p>Mambo In Seattle as a racehorse had four wins, and placed second by a nose in the Gr1 Travers and placed in the Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup.</p>
<p>Mambo In Seattle stands for a value fee of R10 000 this season. We are certain to hear more from his son Majestic Mambo in months to come.</p>
