Eight year old Al Miqdaam gelding Ishnana came off a victory in his penultimate start at the end of October, to win at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday for now owner and trainer, Garth Puller.

Ridden by Siphesihle Hlengwa who has ridden the flashy bay previously, Ishnana won convincingly at odds of 20/1 by over two lengths over the 1100m.

Out of Bird Strike by Northern Guest and bred by Mr Robert Smith, Garth Puller expressed his love for the horse and said he wouldn’t be leaving the yard, and will take up lead horse duties when Garth’s current #kznbred lead horse retires, Thuthuzela.

Amongst his 10 wins is the In Full Flight Handicap (Listed), again over 1100m in Pietermaritzburg, where he beat the likes of Gr1 winner Tempting Fate and Gr2 winner Winter Smoke.

Ishnana Gets 8th Win!

Ishnana, a son of Al Miqdaam bred by Robert Smith who part owns the gelding with Mr Thabo Mhlongo, got his 8th win at Hollywoodbets Greyville in the Pinnacle Stakes – beating the consistent speedster Chantyman and Listed winner, Pray For Rain under apprentice Cole Dicken.

Ridden by Cole Dicken for Trainer Garth Puller, the flashy gelding finished a length off Gr2 winner Mount Pleasant in his previous start.

The seven year old gelding is out of Bird Strike by Northern Guest. Ishnana has previously placed in the In Full Fight Listed and a year later went on to win the feature.

Ishnana has earned almost R700 000 in stakes and doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon!
