The sale at Yellow Star stud took place on Tuesday 5 July, 2011, consisting of mares, fillies, weanlings and horses-in-training.
The top selling broodmare was Blushing Summer, by Jallad out of Cape Summer. She was consigned by Summerhill Stud on behalf of a partnership, and released by Novisara Stud for R220 000. She is currently in foal to sire sensation Trippi, and the dam of 8 foals and 6 winners, including Brock, Majestic Sun and Sun City.
The highest priced filly, Stellar Season (2007), reached R145 000, sold by Yellow Star Stud acting as agent on behalf of G.M. Elliot, to Duncan Howells Racing. She is by Count du Bois out of Winning Archer by Arch. She is already a winner and placed from only 3 starts, and looks to be a good future broodmare prospect.
Villandry, at one stage of his career an unbeaten colt and winner of the Grade 1 Gold Reef Resorts Medallion, was sold to Dippin Blu Racing stables for R60 000.
The highest priced weanling was an unnamed colt (10Florist Gump) by A.P. Arrow, out of the Zimbabwean mare Florist Gump by Manshood, sold by Hadlow Stud, and released by A. Todd for R52 500. He is a half-brother to three winners including Florist Rose.
88 Lots were sold with 16 withdrawn. The overall aggregate was R2 096 500 and the average for a horse sold was R23 824.
