Debut Win A First For 2012 KZN Yearling Sale Graduate |
2012 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale graduate, Ace Antonius, won his debut at Kenilworth yesterday in the first race by an incredible two lengths.
Now a two year old colt, Ace Antonius sold for just R40 000 at the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale seven months ago, bred and consigned by Highlands Farms Stud.
Horses that placed second and third were Kono (by Dynasty) and Tiger Island (by Tiger Ridge) – the latter two each being approximately R450 000 National Yearling Sale graduates.
Ace Antonius is trained by Vaughn Marshall, ridden to his strong victory by MJ Byleveld over 1200m – jumping from stall six. Congratulations to Highlands Farms and to owner Mr Ken Truter.
It is the first time that Highlands Farm had sent a draft of yearlings up to KZN for the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale and it included the record-smashing Trippi colt that sold for R1,1 million, the highest price ever achieved at any KZN Yearling Sale, named Tiger Territory.
We hope to see Highlands Farm Stud back at the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale this year, and thank them for their support and congratulations on their success!
All the yearlings, regardless of where they were bred, who passed through the sales ring at the 2012 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale (subject to their breeders agreeing to certain terms and conditions) qualify for the Breeders Race to be run on 2013 Vodacom Durban July for a stake of R1-million.
The 2013 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale takes place on 5 and 6 July 2013.
