Wendy Whitehead enjoyed a stellar race day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday, bringing five winners home and doubles for two of her owners – Ittsa IT & Business Solutions and owner and breeder, Mrs Nothemba Mlonzi of Mwetwood Stud in Birnamwood, situated outside of Howick. Four of Wendy’s five winners were #kznbred.

The day started with Piemonte bred son of Crusade out of a Tapit mare, Grande Lupo, breaking his maiden under Calvin Habib who rode four of Wendy’s winners. A R90 000 graduate off the August 2YO Sale, this is the female line of the mighty American Gr1 winner Dortmund and Mogambo.

Next it was a double for Mrs Nothemba Mlonzi, who has John Fox taking care of her breeding and racing affairs and who was on course to enjoy the double. Sky Cafe, by Toreador and the picture of consistency, broke her maiden over 1400m once again under Habib. She is out of Fair Archer, a half sister to dual Gr1 winner Happy Archer.

The beautifully-bred and flashy Mvulazana followed suit; by Soft Falling Rain out of another Tapit mare, feature winner Grey Light, this was the third win for the pretty chestnut filly, again under the services of Calvin Habib and won going away over the 1400m by almost two lengths.

That gave Wendy a treble in her first three starts, and #kznbred Teichman made it five nearer the end of the day under Athandiwe Magudlwa, who the horse loves to run for. The Eightfold Path gelding bred by Scott Bros, out of an Argentine imported mare Carta Expresa, won his sixth career race – from his last nine starts, he has won three and and only been out of the money for owners Messrs G S Perkins, I D Howard, Sanjeev Ramsewak & Sanjeeth Ramsewak on one occasion. The six year old gelding seems to be getting better as he gets older!

Congratulations to Wendy on a truly outstanding achievement!

It was a great day for #kznbreds overall, winning five races on the day after Capetown Noir gelding Straight Up was victorious in the last for trainer Duncan Howells and the SA Punters Forum Syndicate.

Well done to all concerned.
