VDJ Log Update – 13 May
South Africa’s highest rated race horse, Rainbow Bridge, heads the 2021 Vodacom Durban July log which was issued by racing operator Gold Circle today.
The next three positions are occupied by automatic qualifiers Linebacker, [#kznbred] War of Athena and Got The Greenlight by virtue of their respective victories in the Cape Derby (Gr1), SA Fillies Classic (Gr1) and Premier’s Champions Challenge (Gr1). Defending champion Belgarion and stable companion Do It Again, winner of the VDJ in 2018 & 2019, occupy the next two spots on the log.
The top 20 are listed in order of preference while the following five horses are tabled in alphabetical order. The final field of 18 horses plus two reserves will be declared on Tuesday, 22 June. Before then, there are a number of key races in which horses can still improve their chances of securing a place in the Vodacom Durban July to be run at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, 3 July.
