Two Winners For Crusade One Week
Crusade has produced two winners in a week, the first with Roski’s Onamission for Mike De Kock at Turffontein, the other with Romantic Crusade at Durbanville yesterday for July winning trainer Candice Bass-Robinson. Glen Kotzen’s debut winning Crusade, Wings Of Honor, followed up with a third place yesterday at the same course.
Romantic Crusade, owned by Messrs M W Bass, Peter De Beyer & Wehann Smith, has placed four times previously and knocking on the door for her Maiden win, which she won over 1400m.
Bred by Clifton Stud and sold for R100 000 at the 2016 National Yearling Sale, she hails from the damline of O Caesour and National Currency. She is a half-sister to the handsome Dante’s Legacy (originally named Tom’s Legacy), who placed in the Derby Trial (Listed).
Crusade, a winner of the Gr1 Middle Park Stakes, is a half-brother to twice Gr1 winner Seventh Heaven. The Oaks filly has also placed in the Gr1 Breeders Cup for Fillies and Mares, and placed second in the Gr1 Dubai Sheema against the boys.
Crusade stands for a fee of R20 000 at Scott Bros.
