Gary and Colleen de Klerk of boutique stud Summerview, have enjoyed a great week at the races, with two wins and a second place in three different racing centres.

Monday started off with Iron Chef, a beautiful chestnut Crusade filly out of Nigella, winning for Tienie Prinsloo after placing consistently. She flew over the Polytrack to win by over three lengths easily after coming back down in distance to 1400m.

The next up was a smart second from Forged In Ice for the stable of Michael Roberts and Mr and Mrs Nick Jonsson. The What A Winter filly out of Over The Anvil is a half-sister to Black Type Green Lantern and finished second to Raspberry Beret in just her third start. Candice Bass-Robinson purchased the Crusade half-brother to Forged In Ice and the handsome colt was sold for R100 000 off the November 2021 2YO Sale.

Weichong Marwing, the famous partner of Horse Chestnut, produced his first winner as a trainer on Thursday afternoon with Summerview bred and owned Desert Crusader, the 3yo half-brother to Matador Man and Hawker Typhoon breaking his maiden by over two lengths.

Summerview Stud enjoyed a bumper November 2YO Sale last year, with their sales topper being a smashing Vercingetorix colt who was knocked down to Greg Bortz for R620 000. Gary and Colleen averaged almost R200 000 for their six sold at the aforementioned sale and will be a stud to follow for the future!
