Treble For Kahal Night Racing, Five Winners In Five Days
Treble For Kahal Night Racing, Five Winners In Five Days |
Continuing to stamp himself as a top sire, Kahal got a treble at Greyville Friday Night racing with additional wins at the Vaal and Scottsville. Kahal currently lies fifth on the NHRA National Sires Log as of 7 April.
Stephen Moffatt’s four year old gelding, Proud As Punch bred by Sugar Hill Stud, had his second win at the Vaal by almost two lengths over 1000m.
Owned by Mr B Miskin and Julia Moffatt, the gelding has found plenty of recent form to place and win from his last four starts from 1000m – 1400m. He is out of Jallad mare Flicker Of Light.
The next stop at Greyville on the Polytrack started with In The Trenches for trainer Alyson Wright, jockey Anthony Delpech steering the three year old gelding to victory by a massive three lengths off a 12th draw over 1400m.
Anthony would go to win on another Kahal later in the evening, on Dean Kannemeyer’s Solar Star.
Bred by Summerhill Stud, In The Trenches is out of Muhtafal mare Sthukuthezi. The gelding has placed twice previously for owner Mr ML Jean Hardy.
The second to follow was Craig Eudey’s Night Lock, a four year old gelding bred by Mrs Pauline Young. Out of mare Brass Bullet by Fard, the gelding is owned in partnership with trainer Craig along with Messrs T Govender and Pops Govender.
Night Lock has placed eight times; this being his third win over distances of 1800m – 2000m.
The last to make up the treble was the above mentioned Solar Star.
An ultra-consistent individual owned by Greg Bortz, Vanessa Harrison and Bryn Ressell, this was the fourth win for Solar Star with eight places behind him from 15 starts.
His previous start in January saw him finish four lengths off Gr1 winning Captain America at Kenilworth. Solar Star is out of American mare Nevada Sunrise by Carson City.
Mark Dixon looks to have a very smart individual on his hands, with the very lightly raced four year old gelding London Call winning his third race from just four starts, and placing once.
The gallant gelding won absolutely beautifully at a very wet Scottsville on Sunday prior to the race day being abandoned.
Bred by Bruce Le Roux of Spring Valley Stud, from one of his very best foundation mares Fancy Fantasy by Rainbow Dream, the colt has had all of his starts at Scottsville over 1200m.
Only reaching R120 000 at the 2012 National Yearling Sale, London Call already looks to be a bargain purchase with his impeccable record, having already earned almost R170 000, defeating Gr1 winning Kochka into second place in London Call’s previous outing that took place in early January.
This family will be well represented at the upcoming National Yearling Sale.
London Call’s half-sister by Silvano, Listed winner Silver Fantasy, will have a magnificent King’s Chapel colt on sale as Lot 393, a dead-ringer for his sire, sharing the same liver chestnut colour of his sire and Fancy Fantasy.
Fancy Fantasy (pictured below at Spring Valley Stud four years ago, an aged mare she has since passed away) produced the likes of Gr1 winning Indiscreet Fantasy, Malinga and Personal Fantacy.
The other representative at the Nationals from Spring Valley is a breathtaking Trippi filly, out of Fancy Fantasy’s daughter Vasilisa by National Emblem.
Trippi’s Girl is an athletic filly who will come on early; selling as Lot 445 she will be an attraction.
Spring Valley have two other Kahal’s on offer – the first being the second produce of Gr2 winning Bedloe’s Island by Fort Wood, a very good looking and a well grown filly from the immediate family of Buy And Sell, her second dam being Trade Enquiry.
She sells as Lot 61 (pictured above with Bruce Le Roux and Martin Locke during a visit last month).
Bruce also has a lovely grey Kahal filly out of Norbury by Fort Wood; a full-sister to Gr2 winning Cover Look and the family of Winter Fever. She sells as Lot 301.
Bush Hill Stud, the former home of Kahal prior to his passing, are represented by five of his progeny from six in total – carrying top female lines that include the likes of sires Polish Precedent, Igugu’s broodmare sire Intikhab and Zilzal, family of Rebel King as well as from Bush Hill’s prime female line of Sweet Sheila; the family of Zirconeum, Stellite and King Neptune amongst others.
Congratulations to all concerned.
