Rathmor News: Noble Tune Foals And Updates; Broodmare Summer Angel Exciting Prospects
Exit Here, a son of Rathmor’s resident broodmare Summer Angel, got up to win his third race in a row for the partnership of Alesh Naidoo and Marcus Jooste over 1600m at Greyville by almost two lengths.
The colt is an exciting prospect for Champions Season in 2016 – he has now also placed second twice including the Gatecrasher Listed to Rabada, and has yet to be out of the money from five starts. The win has put Exit Here on the log to participate in the CTS Million Dollar race.
His Gr3 Umzimkhulu Stakes winning half-sister by Right Approach, Eventual Angel, has been purchased by Rathmor Stud as a future broodmare prospect and she has joined the Dennis Drier stable once more. Dennis has sent her to the Cape to campaign in the Cape season.
Four-year-old Eventual Angel is a horse Dennis rates “A top filly. She had feet problems. The inside heel on her off fore just had no growth. It’s taken almost year to get her right. We sent her away for 6 or 7 months and it seems to have paid off. She’s sound as a bell and is a really good filly. She could be taking her chances in the Paddock and Majorca Stakes.”
Eventual Angel has yet to be out of the money from seven starts and has won four times.
Eventual Angel’s full brother Entree recently won at Greyville over 2000m for the Duncan Howells stable, with Gr2 Gold Vase winner Kolkata finishing second over the 2000m.
A daughter of Jet Master out of Model Man mare Evangelista from the Argentine “E” family that has been so succesful in South Africa, Summer Angel is due to foal to Noble Tune this season and she will be covered by him again for 2016. All three of her runners are winners and her foal by Noble Tune is going to be a very exciting prospect, in particular in-bred to the great broodmare Glorious Song.
Gr2 winning Noble Tune has a full book for 2015 and includes a lot of outside support from the Cape breeders, he has already covered over three quarters of his book this season and has maintained his condition beautifully, a tribute to his temperament.
We are over the moon with his first foals that have arrived, who are clearly stamped with their sire’s quality and features, standing head and shoulders above the others.
It is also very pleasing to see how Noble Tune has upgraded his maiden mares, with several big first foals being born and plenty of bone, including a super colt for Lynton Ryan out of maiden Dynasty mare, Summer To Remember (pictured above right).
More recently a lovely filly from Mogok mare Red Armada, a third foal from the mare for owner Graeme Elliot, weighed in at over 70kgs at birth (pictured left at 2 days old).
Noble Tune is passing on his handsome head, facial markings and his conformation which is very clear, particularly in the hindquarters which strongly represents their great paternal grandsire, Unbridled’s Song.
His dual Gr1 winning half brother Honor Code will be keeping everyone in the racing world on the edge of their seats in the Breeders Cup Classic, where he will be taking on America’s greatest of their generation such as American Pharoah and Beholder.
Honor Code’s breeze on 12 October made headlines on bloodhorse.com, working five furlongs in a sparkling in 1:00 2/5. He was caught by clockers over the time splits which produced the third fastest of 31 on the day. His trainer Shug McGaughey announced after that it was the best he had worked all summer, and he was extremely pleased with the “very, very good gallop.”
The Breeders Cup will be run at Keeneland on 30 and 31 October.
