Noble Tune News: Second Win For Sister Lady Serena

After winning her maiden in a serious fashion by more than seven lengths, Lady Serena followed this up with a strong second win at Belmont over 1600m from just four career starts.

Owned and raced by Dell Ridge Farm, she broke well and maintained a forward position and held on willingly in the final furlong to win comfortably by over a length from from Two Taps and Mei Ling.

The three year old filly by Bernardini (by A.P. Indy) carries Fappiano in her sires pedigree, similar to that of her half-brother Noble Tune by Unbridled’s Song – a grandson of Fappiano. Her half-brother dual Gr2 winning Honor Code, A.P. Indy’s current top-performing son, will make a start in the Gr1 Metropolitan Handicap over 1600m at Belmont on Saturday.

Noble Tune, a Gr2 and Gr3 winner who also placed second in the Gr1 Breeders Juvenile Turf, will have his first foals on the ground in August 2015.

Descended from the great racemare Serena’s Song who won 11 Gr1’s, this is currently one of the most successful and active damlines performing at the upper echelons in the world including Rizeena and Puissance De Lune.

Noble Tune is out of Serena’s Cat, whose weanling filly by Tapit sold for a world record breaking $3million at Keeneland last year. Serena’s Cat also has a 2013 Tapit colt named Morse Code coming through in pretraining.

Sarah Whitelaw recently paid a visit to Rathmor to view Noble Tune and described him as: “A top class two-year-old, who was unlucky not to win the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, Noble Tune has let down into a magnificent specimen, who really fills the eye.”

Noble Tune will stand for a fee of R25 000 this season (R5000 nomination and R20 000 live foal). View him at Rathmor Stud on 19 July from 11am.
