Mogok Dominates KZN Breeders Million Mile Field

Scott Bros’ resident sire Mogok dominates the KZN Breeders Million Mile field to be run on Sunday at Greyville on the turf, with five of his progeny represented out of the 12 entries.

Wild One heads up the entries and looks to be a serious contender, the Mike De Kock trained five year old gelding came out after an 11 month break to finish second recently behind Puntas Arenas in the Gr3 Cup Trial over 1800m.

His race prior to that saw him finish second to Wavin’ Flag in the Gr1 Gold Cup in July 2014, just half a length off. Owned by Mr S Phillips, Wild One has won three times including a Gr3, and placed nine times – six of those in Black Type company.

Garth Puller’s Mogok Way Of Light has won twice and placed from all his starts, whilst the Gr3 winning King Of Torts, a half-brother to Vodacom Durban July winner Dunford, is consistent in his form with five wins and 11 places.

Miesque’s Approval is represented by Auction King, trained by Paul Lafferty in the Million Mile. Auction King has won three times and placed in the Michael Roberts Handicap (Listed).

Miesque’s Approval’s Judicial recently finished second behind Vodacom Durban July hopeful Legal Eagle in the Gr3 Jubilee Handicap, with previous Vodacom Durban July winner Heavy Metal finishing two lengths behind Judicial.

Miesque’s Approval continues to be the leading sire on Artificial Going by Stakes earned nationally, with Var, Jet Master, Western Winter and Kahal following suit. Miesque’s Approval lies 11th on the National Sires Log by Stakes earned on all surfaces.

Mogok has produced international Group Winners and performers The Apache and Gypsy’s Warning. The Apache stood his first season at Rosedene Stud in 2014, whilst Gypsy’s Warning’s first produce, a Street Cry filly called Know, has placed in her first run in Ireland.
