KZN’s Crusade(USA) Arrives In South Africa
The KZN Breeders exciting new stallion addition, Group 1 winner Crusade, has arrived safely in Cape Town.
The Middle Park Stakes winner will stay in quarantine for 30 days, before being moved to Vaughn Marshall’s yard where he will spend a few months before making the trip to the Scott Bros’ Highdown Stud.
Crusade, whose pedigree will inject some new genetics and speed into KZN breeding, will be the first son of Mr Greeley(USA) to stand in KZN.
He is a half-brother to another multiple Group-placed horse in England, Cristoforo Colombo(USA). He is out of the mare La Traviata, herself by Johannesburg(USA) out of Piedras Negras by Unbridled(USA), in turn out of a Devil’s Bag(USA) mare.
Crusade ran one of the fastest times recorded in the Gr 1 Middle Park Stakes, with his time being only a few seconds behind the fastest – Oasis Dream. Crusade’s winning time was ahead of the likes of Known Fact, Diesis, Minardi, his own broodmare sire Johannesburg, leading Freshman sire Dutch Art and Dark Angel.
