KZN-bred Print The Pounds Wins Gr3 Zimbabwe Guineas |
Clifton Stud-bred Print The Pounds won the Gr3 Zimbabwe Guineas yesterday over 1600m at Borrowdale, her fourth win a row for sire A.P. Answer. This is the first leg of the Zimbabwean Triple Crown.
The appropriately named three year old filly has yet to be out of the money from nine starts – winning and placing from all them, favouring the distance of a mile.
The winner of the Fillies Classic in her previous start (the first leg of the Zimbabwean Triple Tiara), she is owned by the Sunmark Racing Syndicate (Nom: Mr R E Davenport). Print The Pounds is trained by Bridget Stidolph and was ridden to victory by Derreck David, jumping from a seventh draw to win under a weight of 55.5kgs. Picallily and Zita, both trained by Alyson Wright, placed second and third respectively.
Print The Pounds sold at the National Two Year Old sale in 2013 for just R25 000. She is out of three-time winner Almighty Dollar by Divine Force, from the family of In The Fast Lane, Clifton Queen, Morisco, Trademark, Jackson Square and Gitiano.
A.P. Answer, a son of A.P. Indy out of Pas de Reponse by Danzig, had two seconds at Greyville on 22 February with Caroline’s Call and Midanswer, as a well as a third with Dark Rose.
A.P. Answer is the sire of Beckedorf, a winner who has placed five times including second in the Gr3 Godolphin Stakes and fourth in a Gr1 behind Guiness.
Congratulations to Peter and Jenny Blyth of Clifton Stud!
