Croke Park, bred by Somerset Stud, produced the first win for Mullins Bay(GB), standing at Summerhill Stud. This is Mullins Bay’s first crop to race. Croke Park sold for just R20 000 at the 2011 KZN Yearling Sale, and has earned almost R50 000 in his first start/win.
It was the two-year old colt’s debut run and he won comfortably by 2.25 lengths from Sammy Silver at Turffontein’s inside track on Sunday 3 June. He is trained by Tyrone Zackey. The colt was drawn tenth, winning comfortably over 1600m under jockey Brandon Lerena.
The dam Streisand (by Gallic League) won twice and placed 3 times from 10 starts. She has now produced three winners from four runners. She is a full-sister to Gallic Son, a ten-time winner including Mauritius. Croke Park is a half-brother to three year old Choir Girl (by Requiem) a winner of her last two races from five starts.
Mullins Bay, by Machiavellian out of Bella Colora by Bellypha, has had just 7 runners to date with one winner and two places coming from Copper Bay.
