Dual Gr1 Success For Family Of Noble Tune
Dual Gr1 Success For Family Of Noble Tune |
Noble Tune’s immaculate dam-line headed by his third dam, the great Serena’s Song continues its Gr1 momentum – with two horses on 13 September each placing in top company on either side of the world – Australia and Ireland.
The first to show was grey colt Puissance De Lune (by Sharmadal – Princess Serena by Unbridled’s Song) who finished third by three quarters of a length to Dissident and Fawkner in the Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes over 1600m on turf in good going.
Once again, a pedigree with a remarkable similarity to that of Noble Tune with Sharmadal being a grandson of Storm Cat, Puissance De Lune’s third dam is Serena’s Sister, a full-sister to Noble Tune’s third dam, Champion racemare Serena’s Song.
Puissance De Lune has plenty of Bold Black Type to date to boast about, having placed second in this race previously, he is a winner of the Gr3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the Gr2 P.B. Lawrence and Blamey Stakes, as well as previously placing in Gr1’s Turnbull Stakes and Memsie Stakes.
On the same day in Ireland, Rizeena lined up for yet another Gr1, this time in the Matron Stakes over eight furlongs. Running on turf, the brilliant Rizeena finished just half a length off Fiesolana, with Toban finishing behind her.
Rizeena is out of Serena’s Storm by Statue Of Liberty – her third dam is Princess Serena (mentioned above) and again proves the success of this potent pedigree, one unique to South Africa with Noble Tune being the only link.
Rizeena has stamped herself as one of Europe’s top fillies, a recent winner of the Gr1 Coronation Stakes, she has also placed in the Gr1 Prix Morny, including three other Gr1’s and two Gr2’s.
Gr2 & Gr3 winning Noble Tune (by Unbridled’s Song out of Serena’s Cat by Storm Cat) is currently standing his first season at Rathmor where he is receiving a first class book of mares, for a service fee of R25 000.
