Crusade Winners!
Paul Lafferty’s handsome chestnut Buckleberry, bred by Alan and Vera Sutherland of Somerset Stud, impressed to win at Greyville after being unlucky in his three prior starts – finishing in 2nd place in all three previous attempts.
In the Barrier Trial prior to Buckleberry’s win, two Crusades finished 1-2 – Getaway and Linear.
This time under Anton Marcus, Buckleberry finished over five lengths clear of another #kznbred, Wishful Words, a Byword out of Linsumi.
Crusade, who covered his 2018 season at Clifton Stud, also had a very impressive juvenile winner recently at Fairview as Ndoro Stud-bred Wild Move won second time out in a speedy fashion. For the current month, Crusade has had 3 winners and 3 places, two of them were seconds.
Buckleberry sold for R150 000 at the 2017 National Yearling Sale. This is the family of Hail Caesour and Cartel.
According to current stats on www.arion.co.nz, Crusade has produced a lifetime winners to runners percentage of 46%, with 4 Stakes Wins.
His leading horse is 4-time winner Covered In Snow bred by Clifton Stud, who has won two Listed races. Clifton Stud have a full brother at foot currently at Clifton Stud.
