Arrival Of Await The Dawn
Arrival Of Await The Dawn |
Summerhill’s new sire for the 2013 season has arrived – the much anticipated Await The Dawn, pictured with Peter Choice (breeder of recent Gr 2 Emerald Cup winner In A Rush) of Choice Carriers and stallion handlers’ Greig Muir and Themba Zuma.
A son of world champion sire Giant’s Causeway out of Valentine Band by Dixieland Band, Await The Dawn is a winner of the Gr 2 Hardwick Stakes and a dual Gr 3 winner – seizing the Kilternan Stakes by an incredible goose-bump nine-length win and the Huxley Stakes by four-and-half lengths.
Racing in the UK, Ireland, America and Dubai – sadly unforseen circumstances concerning Await The Dawn’s health interrupted a blossoming race career and prevented him from achieving a Group 1 status – it certainly deserves to be on his race record considering the heights of his early racing career.
His half-brother Putney Bridge is also a six-time Group performed horse, and Await The Dawn’s impressive dam-line includes top sire Rainbow Quest, as well as the likes of sires Multiplex, Warning, Deploy and Commander In Chief.
To add yet another strong boasting point for the nine-time Equus Award Champion breeders Summerhill Stud, Await The Dawn is the first stallion in Southern Africa (and quite possibly the world) to be a BEE Syndication, a product of a combined effort by Ithala Bank and Summerhill Stud’s staff.
Community upliftment plays an integral part of Summerhill Stud, and Mick Goss of Summerhill talks enthusiastically about the new ownership concept: “Await The Dawn is a world first – being a BEE syndicated stallion and sharing him with our staff. A BEE orientated bank granted the loan, and the dividends could be remarkable.
“It is the first model of its kind – and Await The Dawn is a helluva horse to start with!”
Await The Dawn stands for a fee of R30 000 +vat this season. Contact Linda on 033 263 1081 or email info@summerhill.co.za.
