SPRING VALLEY’S HIGH CLASS NATIONAL DRAFT

SpringValleyPageProminent KZN farm Spring Valley Stud will be represented by high-class draft of eight at next week’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
The farm, famed for breeding the 2005 July winner Dunford as well as G1 winning siblings Count The Money and Buy And Sell, will be offering four lots outright and another quartet as agent.

Spring Valley’s draft is notable for the high-class racemares represented.  Among them is G2 Gold Bowl winner Magic Smoke, who has a colt by Judpot on sale. Already named Magic D (Lot 475), this chestnut is bred on the same Judpot/Fort Wood cross as former Golden Horseshoe hero Forest Indigo.  Former Equus Outstanding Stallion, Judpot continues to make waves, with his recent runners including G2 Colorado King Stakes winner Coral Fever and promising 2yo Nous Voila.

Another smart racemare represented by a yearling in this draft is G3 Flamboyant Stakes winner Precedent. An own sister to G1 winner Legality, Precedent is represented on the 2018 National Sale by an unnamed bay colt (Lot 227), sired by Indian Ridge’s multiple G1 winning son Linngari.

Spring Valley’s resident sire Just As Well made news when his son Just Cruised In won the G3 Caradoc Gold Cup recently. The son of A P Indy is represented in this draft by Just Amazing (Lot 298). This filly is out of the seven time stakes winning mare The Angelus, a daughter of emerging broodmare sire Windrush. This is the same family as G1 winning sprinter Simonside.

Promising young sire, and G1 Middle Park Stakes winner, Crusade has a really nice filly in the form Hey Delilah (Lot 433). This chestnut, whose three time winning dam is a half-sister to a Kenyan classic winner, is a half-sister to two smart winners including former G1 SA Nursery contender Just As I Said.

Red hot stallion Querari, whose 3yos this season include brilliant Guineas winner Monks Hood, is the sire of an unnamed bay filly (Lot 215), whose dam is a five time winning half-sister to G1 winning sprinter O Caesour. Bred on the same Querari/National Assembly cross as stakes winner Maximizer, this filly’s dam is a sister in blood to champion sprinters Enchantress and National Currency.

Other interesting yearlings in the Spring Valley draft is the Visionaire colt out of nine time stakes winner Silver Nun (Lot 276), the Philanthropist half-brother to smart filly Cotton Candy (Lot 514), and the Oratorio filly whose dam was a stakes placed winner of nine (Lot 438).
