Son Of Capetown Noir Completes Guineas-Derby Double!

Gavin Smith Racing Team completed another terrific day at the office with a hat-trick at Fairview on Friday. Gavin’s purple patch included an eyecatching victory in the R85 000 WSB Listed East Cape Derby by his budding regional champion 3yo male, Jaeger Moon.

On Tuesday Smith marked his century of winners this term, and together with Alan Greeff celebrated another three winners on Friday, headed by a superb effort from the Frank Burggraaf raced Capetown Noir colt, who achieved the Guineas-Derby double.

After a slow start that probably worked to his advantage, a relaxed Jaeger Moon made all of the running and stayed on powerfully under regular pilot Marco Van Rensburg to win in a time of 153,10 secs.

The fact that Jaeger Moon stays the 2400m will be music to his connection’s ears with a multitude of options, and he looks a really smart colt.

A R140 000 2019 BSA Ready To Run graduate, Jaeger Moon has won 7 races with 3 places from, 11 starts for stakes of R250 250.

He was bred by Summerhill Stud and is a son of the multiple Gr1 winning Equus champion son of Western Winter, Capetown Noir – who now resides at Piemonte Stud in Summerveld.

Jaeger Moon is out of the five-time winning Parade Leader mare, Maritime Mist. This is the immediate family of Yard Arm and Donya.
