A second debut in a couple of weeks for Clifton Stud, Captain’s Christy came through to win smartly from the stable of Mark Dixon and owners Mr Kevan Rice, Jay Joseph, owned in partnership with trainer Mark Dixon. Breeder Peter Blyth of Clifton Stud was on course to enjoy the moment with the connections.

A R100 000 graduate off the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale that took place at Suncoast, the forward filly looks like one to follow and won by a length from Mia’s Athena under jockey Cole Dicken.

Kevan Rice is a breeder at Clifton Stud, where he has mare Marry Me Mullins who has produced four individual multiple winners at stud to date. She has foaled a smashing chestnut Act Of War last season, a full sibling to three-time winner Mauby.

Captain’s Christy is out of Fort Wood mare Mystic Rose. Fort Wood has been in the news this week, as the broodmare sire of both Gr2 WSB Gauteng Guineas winner (Eye Of The Prophet) and the Gr2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas winner Lady Of Power.

Mystic Rose is a full sister to Black Type Societi, and this is the family of Noble Wood and Hundred Acrewood.

In the process, the connections also took home the BSA Maiden Juvenile Plate Bonus of R100 000, essentially paying for the sales price of Captain’s Christy!

Congratulations to all concerned.
