Piemonte Dispersal Sale Results
Piemonte Stud have sadly dispersed their breeding operation and saw a top price of R340 000 for a beautifully bred yearling by Gimmethegreenlight out of Carlita.
Aptly named Carlita’s Best, the dam herself is a Piemonte-bred and raced daughter of Oratorio, voted the Eastern Cape’s Champion 2YO Filly of her generation with two Listed wins amongst her six victories. This is the family of sire Spring Halo. The colt sold to Wendy Whitehead.
The top broodmare of the sale was knocked down to Tommy Crowe for R300 000. Originally a R300 000 National 2YO Sale purchase by Piemonte, the Gimmethegreenlight mare is in foal to Malmoos and has a Danon Platina foal at foot.
A half sister to True Master, Beataboutthebush won eight races for the Scribante family including three Listed races. This is the family of Do It Again and Dancewiththedevil.
Herrin, also Champion 2YO Filly of her year in the Eastern Cape, sold for R240 000, covered by Heavenly Blue for the season. The daughter of Querari out of a Fort Wood mare hails from the family of Señor Santa and Flight Alert. She sold to Owloon Horses.
The top buyers were Owloon who purchased five horses for an average of R104 000 each, followed by Wendy Whitehead averaging R143 333 each.
48 Horses sold for an aggregate of R2,636,000.
