Monday Backworth Double!
Backworth Stud based in Eston, enjoyed a double with trainer Tony Rivalland and owner Mrs Mary Liley.
At 90, Mary Liley frequents Hollywoodbets Greyville almost every race meeting and is a stalwart supporter in KZN. and has enjoyed 15 winners for the current season including partnerships.
A big beautiful filly, Rain Wear (Soft Falling Rain – Fashion Wear (AUS)) is enjoying a consistent career, and the four year old has won over 1400m and now 1600m, and amongst her many places has been second on four occasions.
Tony followed this up with Rain Wear’s former paddock mate at Backworth, Lets Not Linger, a daughter of Linngari out of Kadeze by Kahal, who got her fourth career win under apprentice Gabrielle Pieterse. She has also placed eight times.
A boutique stud in Eston who have reduced numbers and have always produced quality racehorses with several of their fillies standing at leading studs around the country, Backworth stands on a winners to runners percentage of 36.4% and average earnings per runner of almost R50 000.
