With Varsfontein-bred Pagoda (an entry into the Vodacom Durban July) leading the way for Mogok colts this year, Mogok filly Fortissimus won the East Cape Oaks (Listed) over 2000m on Friday at Fairview for the Justin Snaith racing stable. Owned by Mr EA Braun, the three year old filly won by one and half lengths under star jockey Callan Murray.
This is her third career win for stakes of R244 450, excluding the BSA value added bonus of R77 500. Out of Al Mufti mare Arabian Glamour, she is bred in partnership by Etienne Braun and former KZN Breeders, Linington & Sons.
Mogok has four lots on offer at the upcoming National Yearling Sale, including a full sibling to Ballito Boy and a three parts sibling to Gr2 winner, Meadow Magic.
The consistent son of Storm Cat and a half-brother to Machiavellian, Mogok is also the broodmare sire of Stakes winner Matador Man, as well as the sire of International Gr1 performers Gypsy’s Warning and The Apache (standing at stud at Scott Bros).
His local Gr1 winners include Wild One and Talktothestars – each of the latter with siblings at the upcoming Nationals by Crusade and Eightfold Path respectively.
Crusade is currently the second leading first season crop sire and Eightfold Path has had early places for his crop.
