Two Year Old Nominations Open For KZN Breeders Race Day 2013 |
Due to the overwhelming entries (140 in total) for two year olds received in the first nomination process in December, towards the KZN Breeders Race Day on 30 June 2013 (initially for three year olds and up), it was decided to open a seventh race for a stake of R200 000 for two year old *KZN-bred juvenile horses. It will be run over 1200m.
Nomination forms have been sent by the National Racing Bureau to the trainers and entries and fees will be submitted to the National Racing Bureau.

Further to the Media Release issued on the 21 November 2012, KZN Breeders Club announces an additional race on KZN Breeders Race Day to be held at Greyville on Sunday, 30 June 2013.
This race will be for two year olds over 1200m for a stake of R200 000. The race is open to all two year old horses country-wide whose credentials meet the critera of “*KZN-bred” as prescribed by the rules of the KZN Breeders Premium Scheme. Points earned will be back-dated to 1 January 2013.
Entries re-opened for this race only (ie juveniles) and closes on Wednesday, 6th February 2013 at 16:00. Entry fee is R50 + Vat. Supplementary entry closes Tuesday, 30 April 2013. (Supplementary entry fee R2000 + Vat).
Points for Maiden races will be awarded on a 4, 3, 2 basis for first, second and third. All other races, including Grade 1’s, will have points awarded from first to fifth on 8, 6, 4, 3, 1 basis.
Points will be awarded regardless of the distance of the races and it will be up to the connections of the horses as to which races they nominate for. The intention is to publish a points log on a fortnightly basis which will appear on kznbreeders.co.za.
Although run on the same day, the KZN Breeders Million Mile is excluded from the early nomination and points initiative, following the normal nomination processes. The KZN Breeders Million Mile will be for three and four year olds, based on suitable Merit Ratings.
The six other supporting races will be two races each over 1200m, 1600m and 1900m, one each for fillies, mares, colts and geldings for three year olds and up, respectively, and Supplementary entries will open again in April for R2000 + Vat. Over 460 KZN-breds have qualified for entry for these races.
The races will be open to all horses country-wide whose credentials meet the criteria of “KZN bred” as prescribed by the rules of the KZN Breeders Premium Scheme.
