Opening Of The Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale Day 1

The Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale kicks off this morning at 10:00, with one of the best sons of KZN-bred Jet Master making a guest appearance at the opening scheduled for 9:30 this morning.

JJ The Jet Plane has retired after an illustrious career and international stardom to Nicola and Marc Coppez’s pre-training facility in Mooi River, Balmoral Stud.

The breeders have been showing and prepping outstanding yearlings all week for the prospective buyers in one of the strongest catalogues presented to date. One of the first horses to fall under the hammer from KZN will be Lot 14, a full-brother to Gr 2 Emerald Cup winner Meadow Magic.

Lot 26 will be Backworth Stud’s Lady Matic, a Muhtafal half-sister to Stakes Placed Private Collection and Varlet. Lot 33 from Bush Hill Stud is a big impressive filly by Mullins Bay, from the immediate dam-line of Galileo and Sea The Stars. Summerhill Stud present Lot 53, an exciting filly by Kahal who is a half-sibling to Icy Air and Ice Axe.

The next is the colt everyone wants to see – the white medicine hat son of Kahal, who has attracted so much attention this week – Gran Blanco from Rathmor Stud as Lot 74.

The first Brave Tin Soldier to go through the ring will be from Summerhill Stud as Lot 77, a beautiful athletic filly named Taylinlee out of Personify. Lot 94 is an interesing one – she is a half-sister to Summerhill sire Way West by Toreador (recently relocated to Bush Hill Stud) from Highlands Farms.

The first A.P. Answer from Clifton Stud will pass through as Lot 100, Nimble Dancer, a half-brother to Super Trouper. Fort Beluga’s first filly will pass through as Lot 136, a half-sister to Run For It.

Scott Bros have Lot 177, a half-sister by Mogok to Vodacom Durban July winner Hunting Tower named The Lonsdale, and Summerhill Stud will also be presenting a half-brother to Pierre Jourdan by Kahal as Lot 243.
