Gr1 Places For A.P. Answer And Kildonan At Scottsville |
Young KZN sires A.P. Answer and Kildonan are getting off the mark.
Yet another successful graduate off the 2013 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale, Clifton-bred Beckedorf by A.P. Answer placed in the Gr1 Tsogo Sun Medallion at Scottsville yesterday. A R70 000 graduate owned by Eric Buhr and trained by Dennis Drier, the bay gelding has yet to be out of the placings from four starts – including an impressive second in the Gr3 Godolphin Barb Stakes by just a quarter of a length off Punk Rocker.
A first produce for the dam Countess Kinsky by Kahal, Beckedorf has to date placed in first two starts, won the third at Clairwood over 1000m by a striking five lengths and finished just three lengths off the winner of yesterday’s Gr1, Guiness. Countess Kinsky has a yearling full-sister to Beckedorf at Clifton Stud for owner Erich Buhr and the mare is carrying a foal to first season Gr1 Middle Park Stakes winner Crusade. Countess Kinsky is a full-sister to Gr3 placed Rose Window and a half-sister to Nyakatho. This is also the family of sires’ Archway and Dr Devious.
With his first crop to race, A.P. Answer has had three winners which include Snow Call, First Answer and Beckedorf, as well as a number of places. A beautifully-bred stallion who has let down into an imposing individual standing at Peter and Jenny Blyth’s Clifton Stud, A.P. Answer is by A.P. Indy out of Pas De Reponse by Danzig, this is the immediate family of Storm Bird and Green Tune. A.P. Answer stood for R10 000 over the past breeding season.
Yellow Star’s Kildonan is making his mark at stud and his top-performed horse to date has been the filly Rosier. Unbeaten in three starts up until yesterday, she placed in the Gr1 Allan Robertson Championship behind Alboran Sea.
A Gr2 winner in her previous start at Scottsville from Lady Ky, she also took home the East Cape Fillies Nursery Listed at Fairview, her last three starts all over 1200m. She is trained by Glen Kotzen and owned by Mary Slack of Wilgebosdrift.
A top racehorse who still holds the record at Scottsville for the Gr1 Golden Horse Sprint and managed to place in the Vodacom Durban July – an outstanding achievement for a specialist sprinter – Kildonan has now had 11 winners. He stood for a fee of R10 000 in 2013.
Congratulations to all concerned.
