Futura Wins Gr1 Champions Cup Second Year Running
Futura Wins Gr1 Champions Cup Second Year Running |
Futura concluded a hattrick for the KZN-breds taking home three Gr1’s on Gold Cup day, winning the Gr1 Champions Cup for the second year running.
Bred by Guy Murdoch and born at Yellow Star Stud, Futura’s value as a stallion being by Dynasty and now taking home his fourth Gr1, will have skyrocketed further and there is still much more to come from the Justin Snaith trained five year old colt who will most certainly be crowned Equus Horse Of The Year, for owners John Freeman, Jack Mitchell and Drakenstein Stud (Nom: Mrs G A Rupert).
Jockey Bernard Fay’d Herbe gave Futura a peach of a ride, calculating the finish line to absolute perfection.
Ice Machine, bred by KZN Breeders Gladys and Roy Meaker, put the pressure on into the finish and Futura dug deep to get it on the line, with Legislate finishing third.
Futura is out of Scribblin’ The Cat by Badger’s Drift, in turn out of a Western Winter mare Winter Fox, a half-sister to Angelina – winner of the Gr1 Paddock Stakes.
We are very fortunate in KZN to be standing a Gr1 winning son of Dynasty at stud, with Irish Flame’s first crop looking an absolute picture at Bush Hill Stud.
A big congratulations to all concerned with this brilliant horse!
