Futura finished third to Vodacom Durban July winner Legislate in the Gr2 Green Point Stakes on the weekend, the same day he was crowned KZN Breeders Outstanding Three Year Old Colt and Outsanding Middle Distance Male.
Bred by Guy Murdoch and born at Yellow Star Stud, he finished just four lengths off, with Captain America following.
The Dynasty colt has had five wins from nine starts, and yet to be unplaced.
After a blistering finish in the Vodacom Durban July, finishing just over a half a length off Legislate in the finish after coming from behind, Futura went on to win the Gr1 Beach Beauty Champions Cup from King Of Pain and another KZN-bred, No Worries.
He also placed in the Gr3 Cup Trial.
Futura is out of Badger’s Drift mare Scribbin’ The Cat, it is the first Gr1 for Badger’s Drift as a broodmare sire.
Badger’s Drift is a multiple Gr1 winner himself, and has sired the likes of Gr1 Champions Cup winner Ivory Trail. Badger’s Drift stands at Wood-Moore Manor Stud in KZN.
