Irish-bred daughter of Mr Greeley – the sire of KZN’s new Gr 1 winning stallion prospect Crusade – named What a Name, is due to run in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday 5 May. She is out of a Dayjur mare named Bonnie Byerly.

The 1000 Guineas is a Gr 1 race for three-year old fillies run on the straight Rowley Mile at Newmarket over 1600 meters. It was first run in 1814 for a purse of 1000 guineas, in 2012 the purse was GBP 350 000.00.

What a Name won the Gr 3 Prix La Rochette (1400 m) at Longchamp in September as well as placing second in the Gr 1 Grand Criterium (1400m) at Longchamp in October last year. Both races were run on turf.

Crusade’s half-brother by Henrythenavigator, named Cristoforo Colombo, is being aimed at the Gr 1 2000 Guineas.

Gr 1 Middle Park Stakes winner Crusade, a big dark-bay son of Mr Greeley out of La Traviata by Johannesburg, will stand at the Scott Bros for his first season a stud this year.
