CTS Ready To Run Sale Gallops At Summerhill

Summerhill Stud held a superb day once again last week, presenting the Gallops for the Cape Thoroughbred Sales Ready To Run Sale which takes place at Inanda Club on 18 October in Sandton.

Summerhill Stud is an absolute picture this time of year in the spring, passing the paddocks filled with mares, foals and yearlings that have stood many a champion and the roads all named in honour of the greats, are an appropriate reminder of the potential greatness that we were about to see with a number of Group winners having galloped on that track in years past.

A beautifully decorated tent, red carpet and champagne set the tone for the day, the Gallops beginning sharply at 9:30 and featuring 172 horses from vendors Balmoral Stud, Far End Racing, Klawervlei and Summerhill Stud. The draft shown on the day included a number of siblings to Group winners such as Pierre Jourdan, the unbeaten Rabada and Royal Pleasure.

A second set of Gallops will take place for horses that currently reside in Johannesburg, which will take place 7 October 2015 at 10:30.

All the graduates of the sale will be eligible for the R2,5million Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup in 2016. A bonus of R100 000 will be awarded to the vendor of the winning horse.

The judging panel this year consisted of Craig Peters, Graeme Hawkins, Joey Ramsden, Michael Roberts, Sean Tarry, Dean Kannemeyer, Matthew De Kock and Miguel Clements.
