Piemonte resident Capetown Noir came very close to securing a Gr2 when Bohica was literally pipped by a whisker on the post in the Senor Santa on the weekend, under jockey S’Manga Khumalo.

What has to be one of the most handsome horses racing today, the flashy Bohica is trained by the father-son Azzie team, owned by Messrs B G Gardner, G Morris & B Riley and bred by Summerhill Stud. Bohica, in finishing 2nd defeated Gr1 winner Chimichuri Run, the talented Mount Pleasant, Eden Roc and Ikigai.

There is a KZN link to the Gr2 winner however – Bruce Le Roux will be consigning a Trippi half-sister to Vars Vicky at the upcoming Nationals as Lot 237, acting as Agent for Gary Player.

Another Lot to keep a look out for from the farm of Gary and Colleen De Klerk, who has been withdrawn off nationals and will be presented towards the end of the year for the national two year old sale, is a smashing Vercingetorix colt out of Ahlaam – who produced the Ormond Ferraris Oaks Trial Listed winner on the weekend. Aryaam won impressively from a leading Ideal Jet in a masterful ride under Lyle Hewitson for Sean Tarry.

Capetown Noir enjoyed another feature win recently with Under Your Spell taking the Ruffian Listed.

Well done to all concerned!
