Atso Has First Winner At Scottsville
Atso Has First Winner At Scottsville |
Freshman sire Atso, standing at Robin Scott’s Highdown Stud in Nottingham Road, had his first winner yesterday from his first two runners to appear on the track, a bay filly named That So Atso bred by Scott Bros. This is an impressive kick-off for the chestnut son of Kingmambo.
That So Atso, a R30 000 yearling purchase from the 2011 KZN Yearling Sales, looks to be a steal after winning her debut over 1200 metres by 1.25 lengths under Keegan Latham at Scottsville yesterday. The filly is trained and part-owned by Duncan Howells, the balance of ownership belonging to Pierre du Toit. She won in yielding going in a time of 72.39.
Out of the mare Jump Ahead, herself by Sapieha out of Jump For Joyce by Dancing Champ, Jump Ahead has produced 4 runners and 3 winners to date.
That So Atso is a half-sister to Intellectual by Spaceship(ARG), a six-time winner who also placed second in the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint, and running second and third over two years in the Grade 3 Lebelo Sprint, as well as three-time winner by Opera King, Puccini.
Atso, an unraced son of Kingmambo out of Sea Of Showers by Seattle Slew, is an outstanding, athletic individual with a most impressive top-line and sizeable hindquarters. He has a beautiful head, a superb temperament and loves attention from human company.
He was unraced due to injury, but his dam is a four-time winner including the Grade 3 Jenny Wiley Stakes as well running a third in the Grade 2 Prix de Sandringham. His second dam, Chimes Of Freedom produced two Grade 1 winning sires in Aldebaran and Good Journey.
Third dam Aviance is herself a Grade 1 winner of the Phoenix Stakes and produced a Grade 1 winner named Denon. Other descendants of this Graded Stakes winning dam-line include Spinning World – winner of the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Mile, Grade 1 Irish 2000 Guineas and Grade 1 Prix Jacques le Marois (and he is now a sire of Grade 1 winners) – as well as Sagara and Piquetnol.
Atso’s sire is Kingmambo, a multiple Grade 1 winner himself who achieved an impressive Time Form Rating of 133. He is the sire of Grade 1 winners of both colts and fillies, and Champion Sire of Two Year Olds in France. His stud fee for 2008 was $US 250 000. His notable progeny include El Condor Pasa, Lemon Drop Kid, King Cugat and Henrythenavigator – to name but a few.
Congratulations to the connections involved with this filly, we look forward to much more to come from her.
Atso stands alongside Mogok(USA), Miesque’s Approval(USA), The Sheik and Overlord(AUS).
Atso’s stud fee for 2011 was R6000; he stands at the Scott Brothers’ Highdown Stud.
