KZN Breeders Continue To Invest In Mares At Sales
KZN Breeders investment in broodmares continued at the recent dispersal sale of Daytona Stud, with the top price knocked down to Mario Ferreira’s Rathmor Stud – a half-sister to Miyabi Gold named Liquid Force (Duke Of Marmalade) sold for R330 000. She is in foal to What A Winter.
Excitingly, the mare has been earmarked to visit a new addition to the KZN stallion ranks at Rathmor Stud, with Declaration Of Peace (War Front) imminent arrival for the season. He is a half-brother to Gold Cup winner producing Noble Tune.
Blue Sky Thoroughbreds bought her weanling colt for R100 000 by Potala Palace.
Brett Van Laun’s Camargue Stud purchased another two mares – Lot 5 Magic Penny, by Silvano out of Lady Lexington for R80 000, and another by Twice Over in foal to What A Winter for R50 000. Lot 5 is the dam of Pretty Penny (What A Winter), a 4-time winner with Black Type and Magic Penny is back in foal to What A Winter once more.
Lee Scribante’s Piemonte Stud purchased Royal Frost from the family of Marc Anthony, in foal to the very recently deceased Lancaster Bomber for R40 000.
Gary and Colleen De Klerk’s Summerview Stud signed for Lot 1 – a daughter of Ideal World with a Mauritzfontein pedigree, out of Koffiefontein by Diesis, in turn out of Kimberley Mine by Fort Wood. Lot 1 Fear Not is an own sister to Free State and in foal to Lancaster Bomber and went under the gavel for R37 000.
Well done to all concerned.
