Four Winners For Flying The Flag In Four Days
Bush Hill Stud’s Flying The Flag, a son of the recently passed world super sire Galileo and a brother to star Gr1 Coolmore-owned sisters, Rhododendron and Magical, produced four winners in four days on three different courses.
Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein Roha, out of a Silvano mare who has produced two multiple winners, won for the second occasion for owner Joshua Peter and trainer Paul Peter. She won smartly by almost four lengths over 1600m at Turffontein.
Bush Hill-bred Flying The Tessa relished the extra 400m on offer and won over 1600m for breeders and owners Warwick and Karin Render, owned in partnership with Sterling Miller. The juvenile filly is trained by Michael Miller and is out of a mare that is a full sister to Biarritz.
The big handsome Victory Twist, trained by Tony Rivalland and hailing from the female line of sire Vaguely Noble, had luck go his way after placing 2nd on both of his previous occasions for owners Messrs Patrick Rivalland, J P G de Rauville,Tony Rivalland and Mrs Mary Liley. Inbred to Northern Dance four times in the first 5 generations of his pedigree, he has earned a cheque in four of his five starts and enjoys the 1750m on offer at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Bred by the Late Syd Rosseau of St Helier Stud, he gave the Late Syd Rosseau and wife Shirley the second of a double on the day, and a double for Flying The Flag.
Another out of a Silvano mare, bred by Clifton Stud for owner Mr Erich Bur, Flying The Star trained by Corinne Bestel has speed on her side – her last 7 starts she has earned a cheque over 1000m – 1200m – two of them wins and two seconds! It isn’t surprising as the famed Gr1 winning sprinter Tommy Hotspur is close up in the female line.
