Yellow Star Stud have had their first foals arrive, including from first season sire Tropical Empire(AUS) and Spectrum(IRE) who stood his first season in KZN last year.

The first foal is an impressive filly who looks very much like her sire Tropical Empire, and Yellow Star Stud have described her as being a good size, with lovely legs and a handsome face. She is out of Camden Park mare, It’s Playtime (the mare in turn out of It’s Showtime by Al Mufti).

The dam is unraced and is a half-sister to four winners including Variety Show. Her third dam is Model School, Gr 1 winner of the Arc-E-Ciel Paddock Stakes. This family also includes Gr 3 winner Dramdor and Ballet Legend.

The second colt is a big strong colt by Spectrum out of Duplicate by Our Casey’s Boy. The dam has produced a winner in Red Rooney.

The second dam is Irish mare Abriyna, a strong dam-line whose descendants include many Bold Black Types including sire Badger’s Drift, Secret Hoard, On The Tiles, Dancin’ In The Rain and Arcade.

Third dam is Aimee, who has produced plenty of Bold Black Type overseas including sires’ Maroun, Simply Majestic and Alwuhush.

Priscilla Pickering of Yellow Star says “We have also seen the arrival of three Spectrum foals. The colt, out of Duplicate (an Our Casey’s Boy mare) is the oldest foal on the farm and definitely looks the part – big, strong and confident. The two fillies, both born on Friday last week, are also very good looking specimens and if Spectrum’s reputation as a broodmare sire is anything to go by, have exciting careers ahead of them.”

Tropical Empire has let down into a magnificent-looking sire. This season will be the second for both stallions in KZN.
